yeah, it's just a maintenance coasting type of mode. it's less stress on the dev team while resources are put elsewhere. they're not "done" with destiny but D2 will probably less of a focus while they start branching out in multimedia spaces.

I've never believed that the Witness is the Winnower. I think the Unveiling is an allegory of sorts to describe the way of the universe, life and death, as they (the people of the Witness) came to understand it by studying the Gardner. The Gardener creates life, the Winnower takes life. Not maliciously, but just as a constant of yin and yang, give and take. A balance of the universe. The Traveler, or the Gardner as it was known by the people of the Witness, created life, terraformed planets, and gave many races their golden age of growth and prosperity. The Winnower keeps things in check by influencing other beings through the Darkness, though it does not necessarily dictate the Darkness be used for evil, much like the Traveler does not dictate that the Light be used for good, as we've seen in the form of warlords, dark guardians, and the Hive. The conclusions that the people of the Witness came to about purpose and the Final Shape are an extreme of the Winnower's place in the universe. The Witness' story describes the flower "game" as if there is a winner. If they came to the conclusion that the Gardener's unchecked creation just creates chaos and there is no purpose, their interpretation of this "game" would be that the Gardener would eventually lose by the Winnower stopping the Gardener's perpetual creation, thereby leaving the garden in its Final Shape. This gave the people of the Witness the purpose they sought. To end the game, the Gardener's perpetual creation, is to create the Final Shape for the Winnower. They assume the Winnower wants to "win" this game. So, they go about carving the Final Shape. So the Witness becomes the Winnower's "first knife," assuming the precursor people are the first to come to this conclusion and act on it. Now that the Witness is gone and the Traveler still lives to continue creating life and prosperity, the Winnower will find another knife to continue the game and winnow the life that the Traveler creates. How the next knife goes about that, whether it is to the extreme of the Witness or not, remains to be seen, but it seems like with limited understanding and consideration of balance in the universe, it is almost a certainty that the next big bad will eventually come to the same conclusion that to achieve the goal of the Winnower and stop the Gardener, they have to destroy the Gardener and everything it creates. This suits the Winnower in so much as it will accomplish its goal of counteracting the Gardener and as long as the Gardener has people like humanity and lightbearers defending it, there will be a balance to having a being that will attempt to destroy the Gardener since is unlikely that it will fully succeed.

A mini campaign, fill the story with missions that are unique, not necessarily expansive, but different and not samey. Then add special dialogue to seasonal acitvity aswell as loot to enhance the story.

Honestly? Act 1 was not good, in many ways. If they learned anything from the WQ was to never make a shitty season after a banger of a expansion, but they did all over again. However I do believe that the Act 2 and Act 3 could potentialy be the "saving grace" of this Episode. More cutscenes, more lore, less "come back next week", and so on. Not going to update to deluxe or buying next episode until a change like that happens.

I like to think that the crystals that you deposit the engrams in are the source of the curse, which Wilhelm's curse created. Because of the skulls and if you don't give back the loot you took then the curse consumes you. And if you deposit enough engrams to the source of the curse, that weakens the curse and makes the bosses drop their immunity shields. Anyway that's my theory

I'm a player that doesn't enjoy grinding for loot in the game. I do log in to do the story, finishing objectives within reason of my ability, and a few weeklies till I hit cap. The main reason I do log in weekly is the story. I can't get behind the idea of one mission every act, there really wouldn't be much to log in for at that point. I truly would rather have the narrative be better interwoven in the activities we are doing. Big lore points should be near impossible to miss. I, admittedly, completely forgot about Maya, and the conductor because it felt like an out of the way extra tidbit. I never registered "the conductor" as something I should remember, and the drop of it was like a creak in a floorboard compared to actually having a character say something to the effect of "didn't Sunderesh say something about a conductor, is she involved?". Or finish each week, and have better lead up, "oh this data packet we decoded is logs of osiris travelling into the infinite forest, why did they want this?' or "weird the vex net packet here has ishtar signature code, and some data on the founding of neomuna?"

When we already have the split of the acts the quest being weekly peice meal is just terrible

Yeah everyone keeps calling me a bootlicker for this but honestly don’t give a damn anymore. Episodes are MORE content but yeah you’re judging them off of the first act in the first episode… it’s just stupid. We’ve currently got an entire two activities (the equivalent to what we get in MOST seasons), and are set to get at least 2 more in the next acts. We’ve had one strike redone and it looks like a second is coming (judging by the grandmaster rotation), a new exotic quest, 15 seasonal weapons, and the 9 total weeks of wait being split up into 3 parts so you don’t have weeks on end of no content like seasons did! Yes episodes are “just like seasons” seasons worked people we just got bored of them because we knew what to expect and lacked innovation between them. Everything I’ve seen (and with leaks too) about Echoes would put it near the top of any season we’d ever received in terms of content and it’s only the first one! We may not know much about the other two but the return of the Dreadnaught alone is enough to have me excited (yeah yeah recycled content whatever). I genuinely feel half of you are being cynical for the damn sake of it. You built up lofty expectations, like this community always does, and then got upset when they weren’t met, again like this community ALWAYS does. If you don’t like this game, STOP PLAYING IT. Genuinely it is so beyond annoying to have to deal with this all the time.
